Urodynamic testing (filling phase cystometry, micturition cystometry, urethral prophilometry with micturition cystometry) tests to evaluate functioning of lower urinary tract - urinary bladder and urinary tract - by analyzing urinary flow rate and bladder pressure. For testing purposes a thin catheter is passed into the bladder and the bladder is filled with sterile fluid. As soon as the client has the first urge he has to urinate. The testing runs approx. 1 hour. During the testing patient does not feel pain, in some cases just a slight feeling of discomfort.

Uroflowmetry test analyzes stream of urine. Uroflowmetry is the only noninvasive urodynamic testing, therefore advisable to all patients with urination disorders.

Urination depends not only on bladder function, but also on urethra, perineal muscle, prostate (in men) function, as well as bladder location and nervous system function. The function of these organs can be assessed and objective verification of both complaints and type of malfunction obtained only by means of urodynamic tests.

Most often urodynamic testing is necessary for customers with unexplained urination disorders, urinary incontinence, neurologic diseases plus urination disorders, for those with urination disorders as side effect of lower pelvic surgery, etc.
